Sabrina’s Second Collaboration With Dunkin—Is It Actually Good Or Just Good Marketing?

Now, if any of you know me, you’ll know that I am an advid Dunkin drinker. A Dunkin connoisseur if you will! America runs on Dunkin, and apparently, so do I because I drag myself to my location everyday and get my medium vanilla iced coffee with extra ice. I quite literally can’t live without it! For every season—like most corporate ran coffee shops—Dunkin comes out with a menu of new drinks, treats, and most importantly; Donusts. This Summer’s two different menus are no different with their assortment of different refreshers like the new Cherry berry twist, and mango. Cookie dough frozen coffee, mint chocolate chip frozen coffee, a breaded apple pie, and of course those adorable munchkin buckets. But by far the most anticipated drink of the Summer has to be Sabrina Carpenter’s second collaborations with the shop, and that is the Strawberry Daydream Refresher.

This stunning looking, baby pink drink is made from Dunkin’s infamous Strawberry dragon fruit juice mix, oat milk, and a good amount of cold foam on top. This comes after a couple of months ago Carpenter collaborated with the brand, coming out with a brown sugar shakin’ espresso. This drink couldn’t be more different with it’s vibrant color and a creamy texture. Described on Dunkin’s website as a “sip worth dreaming about,” the drink just came out June 25th in the hopes of starting the summer menu off with a bang! And boy, did it. Vistitng Dunkin yesterday with my boyfriend and nieces for breakfast, we were all on the hunt for the much anticipated drink after it was just announced that it was a collaboration with the Grammy winning superstar. And I have to admit, the marketing is quite genius. Dunkin gathered the superstar and fashion photographer and director Nadia Lee Cohen to direct a cheeky ad for the drink where Carpenter sits in her pink coded room as a matchmaker for a hotline, answering callers and prescribing her new Daydream Refresher to them. It is every bit Sabrina-charming, adorable, and girly.

I have to say, we all know that Sabrina’s signature charm sells, because while sitting in Dunkin, I saw over ten of these drinks being made! And while there for about an hour, at least fourteen that I counted were sold. Now for the review, obviously what you have all been waiting for! It is $3 dollars for a medium and that is what we got. For reference, my boyfriend and I shared one because of course I still needed my iced coffee! As far as I know, the refresher has no caffeine in it. We got ours with regular milk and not oatmilk. (I have to be careful with oatmilk, as I have a nut allergy.) I feared it wouldn’t taste the same, but what I did taste was quite delicious! Since oatmilk is creamier then regular milk, I feared the regular milk would thin out the drink and make it super watery, but it didn’t! It was still rich in flavor, sweet, and creamy.

Upon your first sip, you are immediately hit with a creamy texture, not thin at all like I expected. So I assume any milk of your choice would go fine with the drink texture-wise. It didn’t have the texture of a smoothie, it wasn’t extremely thick. It was smooth and milky. The cold foam was sweet and light on top and made the perfect addition to the milky yet sugary drink. It added a bit of an extra texture with it’s light almost fluffy state. For reference, my thirteen year old niece had a whole one and thought it was too sweet with the cold foam. Steritypically, cold foam is pretty sweet. So, if you do not like that texture or the extra sweetness, just get the drink without it. My boyfriend thought it was perfect as is and so did my six year old niece. I really enjoyed it. I loved how smooth it was along with the creamy nature the milk added to the drink. Now, as for the strawberry dragon fruit mix, it is a pretty sweet drink when you get it all by itself. I love anything strawberry flavored, but the juice alone is just too sweet and jam packed with sugar. Adding the milk made it tolerable and lighter which I appreciated. It was the perfect move, and I’m sure it will taste even creamier with the oat milk if you choose it over the regular milk. I would like to try the drink without the cold foam just to see how it would taste, but honestly, I loved the addition of the cold foam. To me, the drink overall wasn’t too sweet, it was just right for the flavor profiles involved. The cold foam is what makes the drink over the top. I would not recommend the strawberry dragon fruit refresher alone, but I would recommend it when combined in this drink, it is fab. It’s exactly what is described, creamy, airy, with a sweet strawberry flavor. I don’t taste the dragon fruit.

As for the presentation, it is just beautful. (And no, not just because my favorite color is baby pink!) It is probably the prettiest drink Dunkin has ever had. When it comes to looks and flavor profile, I would compare it to the pink drink from Starbucks if you have ever had that. It tastes quite similar, but not the same. But if you like that, you will definitely like this. Overall, the Strawberry Daydream Refresher is aesthetic, beautful to look at, well marketed, creamy, milky, smooth, and sweet. It is the perfect Summer drink. I would definitely recommend this, everyone enjoyed it. So what are you waiting for! Go get it now! It won’t be around for much longer, I could already tell that this is going to be a hit. Dunkin and Sabrina, you did it again.
