Now that we’re heading into the cooler months and Summer—one of the hardest seasons to dress for—is over with, we move into Fall territory. Of course knowing the fashion industry, we all start preparing for Fall far before Fall starts. Welcome back to Fad To Fashionista.
Let’s talk about what you should be wearing this Fall, how to incorporate the newest trends into your closet, and why these things are trending.
Being a fashion student, I like to think I know a bit about trend prediction and cycling, in fact, it’s one of my favorite topics when it comes to fashion. Now of course as I say, trends are supposed to be fun, and never taken too seriously. But if you would like to know and participate, this article is for you.
As we know, it was just New York fashion week, and we’ve seen some interesting new trends come from the runways and the people attending. If you want an article for the trends coming out of New York fashion week, please let me know. But for now, we’ll be talking about Fall fashion and some of the Fall fashion trends I’m not only seeing in my everyday life, but on the runways.
Flats With A Strap
Flats—especially red ones—were a huge trend last year, and we’re seeing the trend cycle back now. Although, now they’re coming back a little differently. The strap across the foot seems to be everywhere right now as well as multiple straps, like the one we see on the black Alexander McQueen’s. Edgy, cool, and different. Also, see though mesh flats seem to be a huge trend right now on the runways. I haven’t seen them cycle down to everyday retail stores yet, which is normally how it goes, but I have a funny feeling they will if the trend survives. Flats are easy, everyday, something you could wear. With the strap, it just makes it that much more trendier. They could be paired with anything. Try it out!
Dark Olive Green
We saw the rise and fall of ‘Brat Summer,’ Charlie XCX’s newest album and style that went absoulty viral for it’s club-like hits and edgy, playful style. The color of the album being of course, bright neon green. The color of the Summer. And of course now the color of Fall I’m predicting to be this dark olive green. Not only are we seeing it everywhere, but it’s a Fall staple! It could paired with any of your Fall favs. Brown, purple, red, anything. It’s simple, to ease out of our neon green brat Summer, we’re tip toeing towards our demure olive green Fall. Very demure, very mindful. (Wink Wink)
Riding Boots
Another return that has always been and always will be a Fall staple. It will always recycle, it will always come back because boots are a must in the colder months, and Fall is when we break them out! Brown and black of course being the color of choice. They just seem to go with every basic Fall outfit you could find. Any kind of boot really, specifically the riding boot with the buckles, preferably kneecap leangth. Short boots haven’t been in style for a very long time, and I’m not sure they’re coming back anytime soon.
Suede
Seen on all your favorite insta models, suede—specifically a long brown suede jacket—is trending. Mostly paired with some blue jeans or a skirt. I haven’t seen suede trend like this in a while, which I think is fun, because a lot of these trends are recycled from last season. It’s fun to see a new one. It’s neautral, and can be paired with a lot. I’d personally add some brown accessories to tie it all together. Brown belt, brown bag, things like that.
Ties
Girl’s wearing ties is something I haven’t seen trending since the early 2000’s, and God I’m glad it’s back. I love this trend! Also another one that’s not been a repete of last year, which is great. It’s fun, and has been on the runways a little bit during New York Fashion week. How to pair this? This is a bit of a harder one to style, but if you like it, do it! Don’t be scared. Don’t be scared of any trend! You could pull a Miranda Hobbes and pair the tie with a matching pantsuit, or you could get a little playful. A skirt, white callard shirt, or vest. Mostly neutral ties, wouldn’t do anything crazy, maybe striped.
Gold
Gold jewelry, opposed to silver seems to be trending, which is smart, because gold is a autamunal color. There’s not much to say about this one besides the fact that it’s easy to style. Pair it with anything. Gold is a big jewelry color in Summer and it seems to be trickling down into Fall.
Cardigan And Skirt Combo
And of course, the cardigan and skirt combo. We see this every Fall, because simply, it doesn’t fail! I get it, that Summer to Fall transition could be hard to dress for, so, sweater weather! Can’t go wrong with a cardigan and skirt. Personally a favorite combo of mine, you could pair these with tights, or no tights. I know red tights was a big trend last year. A long jacket, leather jacket, no jacket. Flats, heels, leg warmers. There are so many different ways you could pair this combo, it’s a fun base to start off with. It’s the Fall outfit if you ask me.
